Background

The City of Oskaloosa and Mahaska County is funding a Planning and Environment Linkages (PEL) study through the Community Project Funding grant program and conducting a streamlined Environmental Assessment (EA) for a new roadway that will provide improved regional and local access in rural East Central Iowa. 

The City and County have partnered with the Mahaska Chamber and Development Group private non-profit comprising of professionals and businesses in the area who support this project.  Current manufacturing companies in the area deliver goods to 140 countries worldwide. Additional economic development potential with better access to developable land for both City and County. Currently, truck traffic slows down as they traverse through the urban neighborhoods.
